Fire-red colored aurora borealis also appeared in the skies, shortly before WW2 broke out in 1938. I remember my grandmother telling me that she saw it when she was in Portugal, and at the time, people said that it was not normal.
There were a couple big solar flares that came off the sun in the last week that’s more than likely what’s causing it.
