A 29-year-old Mississippi will spend 20 years behind bars after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a baby boy in 2018. Tiffany Meghan McClellan from the town of Petal was arrested for sexual battery of a child but wasn’t sentenced until Thursday, September 3 for her heinous crime. In addition to her 20 years in prison, all of which she will have to serve, she will then be on probation for an additional 20 years following her release, WDAM reports.
1. INVESTIGATORS AT THE PETAL POLICE DEPARTMENT DISCOVERED THE EVIDENCE.
After discovering video of the baby boy being abused, McClellan was arrested on August 10, 2018. “I would like to recognize the great investigation in this case by Lt. Ray and the Petal Police Department, which lead to rescuing an infant boy from a home where he was being sexually abused and exploited,” District Attorney Lin Carter said in a statement following the sentencing. “This defendant will serve 20 years day-for-day behind bars. Nothing is more sacred than the safety and well being of our children. My office will continue to prioritize the prosecution of violent criminals, including those that abuse children.”
2. ACCORDING TO SOME REPORTS, MCCLELLAN ABUSED THE CHILD FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
The Sun reports that McClellan recorded herself abusing the baby in order to send the footage to someone else. However, this claim is unsubstantiated and it’s unclear what the true motivation is behind her terrible crime.
3. IT’S UNCLEAR WHAT RELATION THE CHILD WAS TO MCCLELLAN.
Investigators declined to reveal how McClellan knew the child in order to protect his identity. However, police were happy to report that they were able to remove the child from a home they considered dangerous. Hopefully he’s in a much safer place now.
4. AFTER MCCLELLAN’S RELEASE, SHE’LL BE A SEX OFFENDER FOR LIFE.
She’ll have to be on the Sex Offender Registry list for the rest of her life, just as she should be.
