The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) is not shy about celebrity guests and perhaps the biggest name in attendance was the Prince of Wales and future King of England, who looked sad as he spoke about his wife’s health.
Prince William’s wife of 13 years, Kate Middleton, recently underwent abdominal surgery at The London Clinic for undisclosed reasons, and Lady Diana’s son Spencer had no intention of revealing them to the public either.

It wouldn’t normally be an issue as the Royal Family is notoriously private about their health but, in stark contrast, King Charles III was very open about his own prostate surgery and then his diagnosis with an unrelated cancer.
“I’ve seen less than ever,” Prince William said of the number of films he’s watched. “With my wife it’s been a bit… But I hope we’ll catch up, I’ll do my list tonight.”
Why the silence?
Middleton may simply not want her private affairs to be known to the world, which is a reasonable request made by many normal people as well, but that hasn’t stopped conspiracies and questions from emerging…
The question on many lips is if the King is so transparent about his own health with the nation, then why is the former Duchess of Cambridge so secretive?
All we know so far is that it is not cancer, as Kensington Palace has made clear. However, many suspect it could be Crohn’s disease, a hysterectomy or surgery to treat avid reflux after the birth of three children in the last decade.
Whatever the reason, it left the future Queen speechless as she needed her entire immediate family to support her and care for her children, George, Charlotte and Louis.
That included her husband, who stepped back from official royal duties for a brief period, while Middleton is expected to return to hers after Easter once she has fully recovered.
