Jason Whitlock has jumped to the defense of Harrison Butker after the Kansas City Chiefs were criticized for handing their kicker a new $25million deal.
On Monday, Butker and the Chiefs agreed a four-year contract extension that makes him the highest-paid kicker in the NFL.
However, it came just three months after Butker made headlines for a controversial commencement speech that he gave at Benedictine College in Kansas.

On Monday, Butker and the Chiefs agreed a four-year contract extension that makes him the highest-paid kicker in the NFL.
However, it came just three months after Butker made headlines for a controversial commencement speech that he gave at Benedictine College in Kansas.
But Whitlock, a conservative podcast host, hit back at one tweet that said players being rewarded regardless of their behavior off the field is ‘the inherent truth of the NFL’.
Whitlock called Butker a ‘celebrator of traditional marriage’ and instead took a swipe at former Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill, who recently signed a $90m restructured contract with the Miami Dolphins.
He called Hill a ‘baby-mama factory’ and added: ‘Who is “putting up” with more, Dolphins or Chiefs? You can’t make this stuff up. People are really this lost.’
Butker, a three-time Super Bowl champion, has become more vocal in recent years with his personal beliefs.
They included wearing a tie to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebration at the White House last year with a pro-life Latin phrase on it. Butker’s views are in opposition with President Joe Biden’s pro-choice policies.
