Delight and disappointment go hand-in-hand at any awards ceremony, but Kiell Smith-Bynoe left viewers stunned with his reaction at the National Television Awards on Wednesday evening.
The actor looked outraged after BBC show Ghosts – in which he takes a lead role as Mike Cooper – missed out on the award for Best Comedy.
Instead, the accolade was awarded to Irish sitcom Mrs. Brown’s Boys, with Smith-Bynoe, 35, left to glare from the audience as show creator Brendan O’Carroll and his co-stars took to the stage
The actor eventually made light of the loss by sharing a meme of a young woman ‘reporting a crime,’ prompting followers to claim he had been ‘robbed.’
It was the second consecutive Best Comedy award for Mrs. Brown’s Boys, which is filmed in front of a live studio audience, after beating Ghosts in the same category in 2023.
