Football fans had the same complaint about legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady during the San Francisco 49ers-Arizona Cardinals Week 1 game.
The 47-year-old Tom Brady is calling his first 49ers game today with Kevin Burkhardt. Brady is in the fifth game of a lucrative 10-year, $375 million contract he signed with FOX Sports in 2022.
But Brady’s performance in the broadcast booth has been met with immense criticism, specifically his lack of energy and excitement. And Sunday’s game in San Francisco was no different, with countless fans taking to X to voice their displeasure with the seven-time Super Bowl champion:

Many fans and pundits were also disappointed with FOX removing Greg Olsen from the No. 1 team with Burkhardt and Erin Andrews. With Brady taking over Olsen’s spot, the latter was moved to the network’s second team with Joe Davis.
Tom Brady will also be on the call for Super Bowl 59 with Andrews and Burkhardt in the Caeesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on Feb. 11. So fans may as well get used to Brady’s voice, whether they like him on the booth or not.
Tom Brady Can Only Improve Over Time
It’s easy to sit back and criticize Brady’s performance, but going from playing football to calling it for three hours a week on live television is not as easy as it seems. Brady is still honing his craft and learning the art of providing in-depth analysis and some personality in the booth.
At least, FOX Sports executives can only hope that he’ll improve given the massive investment they put in him.
